ABOUT TWIGS

My name is Jani. I am the creator of Twigs Market.

Like most artists, I have a vivid imagination and am easily inspired and most happy when I am creating. I’m an intuitive person held captive by God’s beauty in nature, so most things I create involve a little bit of nature. I am moved through music and find mystery in things from the past.

I danced and performed under the professional instruction of the highly accomplished Mary Price Boday for 10 years where my love for music and art flourished. When I was 14 years old, I began teaching dance classes and selling my handmade jewelry. In 2012 I took up ceramics and recently have been enjoying silversmithing as well.

In 2009 I opened Twigs Market, located in the corncrib on my grandparents' historic farm. Always enchanted by history, I originated the space to share with the world my vintage and hand-made collections in a simple setting of small town farm life; on the property that has been in my family since 1887.

To my amazement, Twigs Market has been embraced by other creators, animal lovers, dreamers, and free spirits who share the same feeling toward these things that I do.  Because of this response, I keep sliding the old crib doors open each spring for the past 10 years.

Offering the opportunity for other artists to share their ingenuity at Twigs provides the public a nice mix of locally hand-made artwork, alongside fun new and vintage décor. I credit each artist's work in the item descriptions, so buyers can appreciate the style and heart of the treasures they purchase.

My shop also sells local honey, baked goods, seasonal veggies, fresh flowers, plants, clothing, organic beauty products, coffee and teas, jewelry, pottery, and many other fair-trade items!

Curating Twigs has been a tremendous adventure and I am excited to share the fun with others outside my community and to locals off-season. Nothing compares to the atmosphere in my shop, but here is a small taste of the treasures you may find at Twigs Market when you visit.
